Meet Pastor Dan
Pastor Dan and Ruth Mastro
Pastor Dan, not a self-made man, was called of the Lord to do the work of the ministry as a young teenager after a mighty infilling of the Holy Spirit. From that point on, he knew his life was not his own and began preaching when he was sixteen years of age. Pastor Dan loves the Word of God, and loves the people God has sent in to the church. His pastoral ministry began in the U.S. Army when he was asked to oversee a servicemen’s fellowship group in Germany. Upon completion of military service, he attended Detroit College of Business, Florida Bible Institute and Central Bible College.
At the age of 23, the Lord called him into missionary work in Italy. During his twenty-six months of ministry there, he ministered to family and friends as they accepted the Lord into their lives. The work grew to include a children’s ministry and weekly services for adults. Upon returning to the States, his former relationship with Ruth was rekindled and the two were married 8 months later. Dan and Ruth have been married over 50 years and have four grown sons, two daughters-in-law and eight grandchildren, all of whom are serving the Lord.
Upon return from missionary work in Italy, Dan and Ruth were asked to serve as youth pastors at a local church ministering to over 200 young people. After 14 years of being associate ministers and youth pastors, Dan and Ruth accepted the call to pastoral work in Rochester where they saw the restoration of many lives.
Pastor Dan has traveled to China, and continues ministering at home preaching in many churches in Michigan. Pastor Ruth is a Retired Registered Nurse. She is a wonderful example to others of a Proverbs 31-type of mother and wife. Pastor Ruth also provides the faithful and loving support her husband needs and appreciates. Together they are enjoying shepherding the loving flock at JOY.
